Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani, 96, has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi. Hospital officials confirmed that his condition is currently “stable,” and he is being kept under observation.
As per news agency PTI, Advani is currently receiving treatment under the supervision of Dr. Vinit Suri, a senior consultant in the neurology department. The exact reason for his hospitalization has not been revealed.
Advani, a prominent figure in Indian politics, was hospitalized two days ago and had been admitted to the same hospital earlier this year.
Advani, who was born in Karachi on November 8, 1927, joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the age of 14. Following the 1947 Partition, he migrated to India.
Advani joined Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951 and joined the Rajya Sabha in 1970. In 1972, he was chosen as the party’s president. During the 1975 Emergency, Advani was arrested, along with Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Following the rise of the Janata Party, Advani served as the Information and Broadcasting Minister in 1977.
A pivotal figure in the formation of the BJP in 1980, Advani’s leadership played a crucial role in transforming the party into a national force. His advocacy for the Ram Janmabhoomi movement significantly boosted the BJP’s political fortunes, shaping its rise to power in the 1990s.
