
Bareilly (UP), April 7: Four policemen, including a Sub-Inspector (SI), were suspended on Friday after they were found involved in corruption, a senior police officer said here.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhakar Chaudhary said that SI Sachin Sharma, head constable Anil Pal, two personnel Shubham Kumar and Ankit Kumar, all posted at Izzat Nagar police station.
He said that the suspended personnel detained tempo driver Arun Kumar, Arif Khan, bus driver Ashfaq and Abdul Rauf and demanded Rs 1 lakh for their release.
He said that an inquiry was conducted by the police and Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) which confirmed the complaints of corruption. “Along with suspension a departmental inquiry has also been ordered. One more complaint of SI Sachin Sharma demanding Rs 25,000 was also confirmed in the inquiry,” he said.
