
Dr Virendra Kumar, Union Minister for Social Justice and Emporium, had launched PM DAKSH Portal and Mobile application. The portal and application had been developed collaboratively with the Ministry of Social Justice and Emporium and NeGD, to make the skill development schemes accessible to the target groups. The youth would be able to avail the benefits of the skill development training programmes more easily.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment had been implementing the Pradhan Mantri Dakshta Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi (PM-DAKSH) Yojana from the year 2020-2021, and under this skill development training programmes would be provided to eligible target groups.
The training programmes would be Up-Skilling/Re-Skilling, Short Term Training Programme, Long Term Training Programme, and Entrepreneurship Development Program, and these training programmes would be implemented through Government Training Institutions, Sector Skill Councils which had been constituted by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and other institutions.
A person could get information about skill development training near them and could also register for the same through the PM-DAKSH Portal.
Dr Virendra Kumar, the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, had said they he felt proud to launch the portal and Mobile App for public use, and that the ministry would make improvements for any suggestions received related to the implementation of the portal, to make the portal more beneficial for the target group.
This portal provides the availability of information related to skill development at one place for Scheduled Castes, Safai Karamcharis, and Backward Classes, it also gives a facility to register for the training institutes and programs of their interest.
The other features of this program include a facility to upload desired documents related to personal information, to register the attendance of trainees through the face and eye scanning during the training period and monitoring the facility through photo and video clips during the training, etc.
Loans are being provided at concessional interest rates to the backward classes, scheduled castes and Safai Karamcharis group for self-employment by three Apex Corporations under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, which are National Scheduled Castes Finance, National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation. Training for skill development is also being provided for free to these groups.
These three Apex Corporations had provided skill development training to over 2,73,152 people in the past five years which had helped these people to support themselves and their families through self-employment.
These corporations have set a target for the year 2021-2022 to provide skill development training to over 50,000 people of these target groups.
