Two booked for allegedly recording a proceeding at Pune police station

An offense was registered under the Official Secrets Act against two individuals for allegedly recording a conversation at a police station in Maharashtra’s Pune city.

An offense was registered under the Official Secrets Act against two individuals for allegedly recording a conversation at a police station in Maharashtra’s Pune city, the police said on Tuesday.

According to the police official, the accused, Kailas Chavan and Tushar Chavan, had gone to Dehu Road police station, where Kailas Chavan had been summoned on Monday to complete some formalities in regards to a case registered against him.

An official from the Dehu Road Police station said, “During the proceedings, the other suspect allegedly recorded the conversation on his phone, and was caught by a personnel, red-handed.”

After the inspection of the phone, it was found that the suspect had wrongfully recorded audio of the proceeding.

The accused were booked under section 3 (penalties for spying) and 7 (interfering with officers of the police or members of the Armed Forces of the Union) of the Official Secrets Act, 1923. No arrest has been taken place by the police yet.
