Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)

Tata Consultancy Services, founded in 1968, is one of the most prominent services owned by the Tata Group. With its headquarters in Mumbai, TCS is one of the largest IT service companies in the world, with over 50,00,000 employees and a revenue of Rs 1.62 lakh crores. The CEO of TCS is Rajesh Gopinathan.

Tata Steel Limited 

Tata Steel Limited was established in 1907 by Jamsetji Tata himself. Based in Jamshedpur, Tata Steel is a multinational steel-making company and one of the world’s largest producers of steel. Its CEO is T.V. Narendran, and the company generates a revenue of Rs 1.81 lakh crores.

Tata Motors Limited 

In the automotive sector, Tata Motors Limited, founded in 1945, is a multinational manufacturer of various vehicles, including cars, trucks, vans, and even military vehicles. With its headquarters in Mumbai and 78,906 employees, Tata Motors is led by CEO Guenter Butschek and has a revenue of ₹3.19 lakh crores.

In 2008, the company expanded its portfolio by acquiring the luxury car brand Jaguar Land Rover. This acquisition showcases Tata Motors Limited’s automobile excellence.

Titan Company Limited

Titan Company Limited, established in 1984 and headquartered in Bengaluru is India’s largest producer of personal accessories such as watches and sunglasses. The overall Titan ecosystem has employed over 38,000 people and houses 16 brands and 2,000 retail stores. In recent years, the company has further diversified its product portfolio by foraying into segments such as wearables, Indian dress wear, fragrances, and fashion accessories.

Tata Chemicals Limited, an Indian multinational corporation, with over 85 years of history has its headquarters in the city of Mumbai, Tata Chemicals. It operates across continents from India to Europe, North America, and Africa. This conglomerate focuses on chemicals, crop protection, and speciality chemistry products.

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL)

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) is the hospitality arm of the Tata Group. It is South Asia’s largest hospitality-focused enterprise managing a wide range of hotels, safaris, in-flight catering services, resorts, palaces, and spas. It houses various luxurious brands such as the Taj Hotels, Vivanta, and Ginger, among many others. It was founded in 1902 by Jamshedji Tata. The iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel located in Colaba, Mumbai was the first hotel of the company, opened in 1903.

Tata Communications

Tata Communications Limited, formerly known as Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited, was acquired by the Tata Group in the year 1986. It was previously a telecommunications service provider under the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, and the Government of India. It provides an array of services such as ethernet, content delivery networks, and the Internet, among others. Tata Communications, in 2012, established its link across Egypt, connecting Europe to India thereby creating a subsea fibre network.

Voltas Limited

Tata Group also deals with the sales of home appliances including air conditioners through its multinational company Voltas Limited. Headquartered in Mumbai, it was founded in the year 1954 as a partnership between the Volkart Brothers and Tata Sons. However, now, Voltas Limited is completely owned by the Tata Group. It has its reach across 6 continents and has employed over a million people. The total revenue of Voltas Limited is around Rs. 7,888 crores.

Trent Limited 

Trent Limited, established in the year 1998, specializes in apparel, footwear, accessories, and home decor. Headquartered in Mumbai, it is currently led by CEO Philip N. Auld.

Tata Investment Corporation

Founded in 1937, Tata Investment Corporation operates as a non-banking finance firm, focusing on long-term investments such as equity and debt instruments. With a revenue of ₹310 Crores, it is chaired by Noel Naval Tata and is based in Mumbai.

Other companies owned by the Tata Group include – Tata Metaliks Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Steel founded in 1990. It is engaged in the production of pig iron and ductile iron pipes. Tata Elxsi Limited, established in 1989, specializes in designing and engineering products across various sectors. Headquartered in Bengaluru, it has a global presence in countries including Germany, Japan, France, and the USA.

Tata Coffee Limited, founded in 1922 and owned by Tata Consumer Products, is headquartered in Karnataka, India. It supplies coffee beans to Starbucks in India under an agreement since 2012. Tata Consumer Products Ltd, founded in 1962, is a leading fast-moving consumer products company headquartered in Mumbai. With a workforce of 2689 employees and a revenue of ₹9749 Crores, it is the world’s second-largest tea producer and distributor.

Tata AutoComp Systems, founded in 1995, specializes in producing and selling automotive components such as car batteries, rearview mirrors, and exhaust systems. With 10 business partnerships in the auto component industry, it operates extensively in the automotive sector.
