Tamil Nadu: State extends COVID-19 lockdown till October 31 with additional relaxations

Previously on 31st August, the government had extended locked till 30th September. Tamil Nadu has recorded 5,589 new positive cases of COVID-19 bringing the total to 5,86,397 and 70 deaths, summing to 9,383.

Today, the Tamil Nadu government has extended COVID-19 lockdown till October 31 with some more relaxations. Currently, public transport is allowed, no e-passes are required for mobility within the state, no lockdowns are imposed on Sunday, places of worship are operating with SOPs, and government offices are functioning at 100% workforce.

New relaxations are as follows: 100 domestic flights will land at Chennai airport per day, earlier it was 50. Cinema shootings will permit maximum 100 people at a time. Tea shops and restaurants are allowed to function between 6 PM and 9 PM. Take away service is allowed till 10 pm. The educational institutions will remain closed.
