Supreme Court cancels “NLAT-2020” entrance exam of NLSIU Bengaluru, admissions will be on basis of CLAT only

The Supreme Court has cancelled the National Law Aptitude Test (NLAT-2020) which was to be conducted by NLSIU Bengaluru as an entrance exam for admission into the LLB course on Monday.

The Supreme Court has cancelled the National Law Aptitude Test (NLAT-2020) which was to be conducted by  NLSIU Bengaluru as an entrance exam for admission into the LLB course on Monday. Direct admissions in all law universities to be conducted as per CLAT-2020.

The SC disapproved of such practice and quashed  NLSIU Bengaluru’s notification of holding separate online NLAT-2020. Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralised national-level entrance test for admissions to 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) in India and Bengaluru’s NLSIU was one of them. CLAT 2020 will be conducted on September 28.

A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan passed the order on a plea challenging the NLAT-2020 filed by former NLSIU vice chancellor Professor R Venkata Rao and the parent of an aspirant.
