Shrikant Tyagi was arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days

Tyagi, who hurled expletives and assaulted a woman who had objected to his illegal constructions in a Noida housing society, was arrested earlier in the day from Meerut.

Shrikant Tyagi of Meerut who was on a run from Noida Police was detained on August 9 after a video of him abusing and assaulting a woman went viral. The police were tipped off to his whereabouts.

The Surajpur court has taken a decision to send Shrikant Tyagi to 14-day judicial custody in connection with assaulting & abusing a woman at Grand Omaxe society in Noida. He was booked under the Gangster Act. 
Following his arrest, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak stated, “The UP government is working with a target of ‘zero-tolerance’ against crimes.” We will not abandon anyone who has broken the law.” “The main goal of the Yogi government is to establish law and order in the state,” he added. We will do everything possible to ensure the safety of women in the state.”

According to reports, he was constantly attempting to contact his wife and lawyer. The arrest came a day after Noida authorities bulldozed his house in the Grand Omaxe housing society in Sector 93B due to illegal construction.

Not only did the viral video make headlines, but Tyagi was also a self-proclaimed BJP leader on social media. He claimed to be a member of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha’s national executive committee. However, the BJP categorically denied the allegations, and the UP government promised harsh action against him.

6 supporters of Shrikant Tyagi, who entered the Grand Omaxe society on Sunday and reportedly asked about the address of the woman who Tyagi manhandled, have been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Surajpur Court as well.
