The Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog (RKA), under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, has commenced a nationwide campaign ‘Kamdhenu Deepawali Abhiyan’ to encourage the use of cow dung-based products during festivals.

RKA chairman Vallabhbhai Kathiria has claimed that cow dung has the ability to counter and reduce radiation. While unveiling a ‘chip’ made of cow dung, he claimed that it reduces radiation from mobile handsets as well as will be a safeguard against diseases. The chip is named ‘Gausatva Kavach’ and is manufactured by Rajkot-based Shrijee Gaushala.

Kathiria, at the launch of the campaign, said, “even Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar consumes cow dung.”

He also said, “cow dung reduces radiation and makes the entire house eco-friendly. Science has ignored the positives of cow dung but now proper research on the issue is being conducted.”

“We want to have research on these subjects which we consider a myth,” Kathiria further added.

He urged to have a positive campaign run based on ‘facts’ to ensure that people do not leave the cows even if they stop giving milk. The chairman also urged people not to use China-made ‘diyas’ this Diwali, stating that the campaign will also boost the ”Make in India” concept of PM Narendra Modi and the ”swadeshi movement”.
