Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan initiative gets ₹ 5,911 crores from Union Cabinet

This scheme is to support 2.7 lakh rural communities to reach their sustainability goals. The central government shall allocate ₹ 3,700 crores while the state government will shell out the remaining ₹ 2,211 crores.

Today at the Union Cabinet PM Modi presided and passed a 4-year extension to the initiative Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) till 2026, with a budget allocation of ₹ 5,911 crores.

 

The RGSA scheme will support close to 2.7 lakh rural communities to reach sustainable development achievements. It is revealed that the central government shall allocate ₹ 3,700 crores while the state government will shell out the remaining ₹ 2,211 crores for the same.

Information and Broadcast Minister Anurag Thakur said, “This decision from the center will help improve Panchayati Raj across the country and make sure the rural sector is developed.”

 

He further added, “This scheme has been extended for the next 4 years until 2026, including states and Union territories. We aim to develop rural communities with the latest technology and make sure Panchayati Raj is backed with full support and technology. We also plan to train the staff of Panchayati Raj and have roped in capacity building commission for the same. by 2026 we hope to train the 1.36 crore staff under Panchayati Raj.”
