Punjab to receive free electricity from 1st July, FM informs in State Budget

Punjab to offer free electricity from July 1, announced by Finance Minister

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema had informed the state assembly that the promise of free electricity will be fulfilled by July 1. The offer was made when Cheema was presenting the State Budget for the year 2022-2023. 

The Punjab FM mentioned that the budget was prepared after careful deliberation on the part of the government. As well as the sectors were finalized after discussion with the society as well. The government had set up a Janta Budget portal. Where 29834 suggestions were made by the people before the decision was taken.

This was the first time that the newly formed AAP government presented the budget. The state government had announced about 300 units of free electricity would be provided to the people starting from July 1. 

“There is zero tolerance for corruption in our government. The anti-corruption movement gave birth to our party”. Cheema said that the government is taking harsh measures against individuals engaging in acts of corruption during the budget speech.

Cheema read the budget from the electronic document “Our focus in the first year will be threefold. To restore deteriorating fiscal health, deliver on the promises of good governance by ensuring effective use of public funds and concentrate on health and education”.
