President Kovind to visit Ladakh on the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas

An official informed, “He will briefly visit the cantonment where he is expected to pay floral tributes to the soldiers martyred in the line of duty.”

On Sunday, President Ram Nath Kovind is schedule to arrive in Jammu and Kashmir for a four-day visit. He will also visit Ladakh on the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

According to officials in Srinagar, president will directly go to Badami Bagh cantonment housing the strategic 15 Corps, also known as Chinar Corps.

An official informed, “He will briefly visit the cantonment where he is expected to pay floral tributes to the soldiers martyred in the line of duty.” He will then travel to the governor’s house.

As a part of security measures for the President’s visit, traffic on Gupkar and Foreshore roads which are the two approach road to Raj Bhawan and the state guests house on the banks of Dal lake, has been diverted between July 25 and 28.

Considering the weather conditions, President Ram Nath Kovind is expected to travel to Drass.

Rashtrapati Bhavan in a statement stated, “On July 26, 2021, the President will pay homage to the indomitable courage and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces during the Kargil conflict in 1999 at the Kargil War Memorial at Dras (Ladakh) on the 22nd Anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas.”

The statement further added, on July 27, President will address the 19th annual convocation of the University of Kashmir in Srinagar.

According to the officials, President is likely to visit the ski resort of the Gulmarg though the details are not completely clarified.

“The President will be travelling back on the morning of July 28” the officials added.
