On Wednesday, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, his wife Tanzeem Fatima and son Abdullah Azam Khan got convicted in the fake birth certificate case. A court in Rampur sentenced the SP leader and his family to seven-year imprisonment. When asked questions by journalists while leaving the court, Azam said, “Today the decision has been taken, there is a difference between decision and justice.”
After the court hearing, when Azam and his family were being taken to jail in police custody, a crowd of SP leaders and supporters also reached outside the jail and raised slogans in support of Azam. Azam’s supporters surrounded the police vehicle from all sides. The police team evacuated him from there and proceeded towards the jail.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that the court’s judgement on Azam Khan and his family is an attempt to target an entire community. In a social media post on X, SP chief wrote: “The public is seeing and understanding the game being played to scare an entire section of the society by targeting honorable Azam Khan ji and his family. Some selfish people do not want the people who promote education to remain active in the society. Many doors of justice have opened against this political conspiracy. Oppressors should remember… the public also has a court against injustice.”

On court’s judgement, former DGC crime Arun Saxena said: “Abdullah Azam Khan is accused of making two birth certificates. The first birth certificate is of January 1, 1993, while the other birth certificate was made from Lucknow in which his birth date is September 30, 1990,” as quoted by ANI.
