Security alert in J&K amid PM Modi meeting with PAGD on Thursday

All the security forces in the Jammu and Kashmir valley are on high alert for tomorrow as the prime minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi will be attending an all party meeting with political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir which will be held on June 24th. This is PM Modi’s first interaction with the political parties from Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, 2019.

There is a security grid present in the valley which was reviewed in a core group meeting which was co-chaired by Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, General commanding of XV Corps and a Lieutenant General officer.

Additional to all these security units, a 48hr alert has been declared in the UT and also along the LOC as the security Marshals don’t want to take slightest of the risk.

The Union Minister Amit Shah has also reviewed the security arrangements in J&K. People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) will also be attending this meeting. The PAGD includes people from National Conference, People Democratic Party, and the Communist Party of India (CPI-M). Many high profile people like Farooq Abdullah, his son Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and leader Ghulam Nabi Azad have also been invited.

This meeting is being to seen as the first crucial step by the Central Government for resuming the political process in J&K and also for holding assembly elections. Everyone is expecting the PM to urge the invited leaders to cooperate with the delimitation commission and keep the electoral process moving.
