PM Modi to meditate at Vivekananda Rock Memorial ahead of Lok Sabha election poll results

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a visit to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on May 30, just days before the eagerly anticipated 2024 Lok Sabha poll results are revealed on June 4. Speculations are rife that he will spend two days in the region, with plans to meditate at the esteemed Vivekananda Rock Memorial, paying homage to the revered Swami Vivekananda.

It’s noteworthy that PM Modi’s visit will commence immediately after the election campaigning for the seventh and final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections concludes on the evening of May 30.

Reports indicate that PM Modi will arrive in Kanyakumari on May 30 and proceed to the memorial on May 31 for a day-long session of meditation. This isn’t the first instance where the Prime Minister has sought spiritual solace before significant moments; he notably engaged in similar meditative sessions in locales like Kedarnath before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections’ results.

The historical significance of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial adds depth to PM Modi’s upcoming visit. Named after Swami Vivekananda, who purportedly meditated on this very rock before his iconic address at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in 1893, the memorial stands as a beacon of spiritual heritage.

Designed by acclaimed architect Eknath Ranade, the memorial sits majestically amidst the convergence of the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean, offering breathtaking views of sunrise and sunset—a draw for tourists worldwide.
