In a significant move, the opposition INDIA bloc announced on Friday its decision to bring up the arrest of JMM leader Hemant Soren in both houses of Parliament. This decision was made during a meeting of INDIA bloc leaders held in the chamber of Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge in the Parliament House earlier today.
This marks the first strategic discussion among opposition leaders in the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, which commenced on January 31. Criticizing the arrest of Soren by the Enforcement Directorate and expressing dissatisfaction with the delay in forming the new government in the state, opposition leaders have raised concerns.
Key figures such as Sonia Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, and TR Baalu had previously gathered at Kharge’s residence on the day of Soren’s arrest. They allege that Soren was compelled to resign as the chief minister, leading to a prolonged delay in the formation of the new government.
Hemant Soren, who resigned as the Jharkhand chief minister, was arrested on Wednesday night by the Enforcement Directorate. As the opposition gears up to address these issues in Parliament, the developments surrounding Soren’s arrest and the subsequent political ramifications are expected to take center stage in the upcoming sessions.
