
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and the first woman to hold the role in her state, Mehbooba Mufti, has been unanimously re-elected as the President of the Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) for a three-year term.

Mehbooba Mufti has been elected as the party’s president for fourth term in a row. The election to the party’s highest post is held after every 3 years.
Prior to Mufti, her position was held by her father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Later, following his death in January 2016, the position was offered to Mehbooba Mufti who succeeded in becoming the 9th CM of J&K from 4 April 2016 to 19 June 2018.
