Ex Punjab Minister Rana Gurmeet Sodhi resigns from Congress, joins BJP

Chandigarh, Dec 21 (UNI) Former Punjab Cabinet minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi has tendered his resignation from the Congress party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday.

In a tweet, Rana Sodhi said, “I cannot accept Punjab’s suffocation and helplessness! Congress party has put state’s security & communal harmony at stake. With deep agony, I put forth my resignation from all posts & primary membership of Congress party with immediate effect.”

Four-time legislator Rana Sodhi formally joined the saffron party in the presence of Union Ministerts Bhupinder Yadav and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. BJP Sikh face and former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DSGMC) chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa and senior BJP leader Dushyant Gautam were also present on the occasion.

Senior BJP leaders Bhupinder Yadav and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat welcomed Rana Sodhi into the party fold.
