Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced his resignation, appointing Atishi as his successor and the new Chief Minister of Delhi. Atishi, a key Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and current Minister for Finance, Education, and several other key portfolios, has been elected as the leader of the AAP Legislative Party.
Kejriwal is expected to tender his resignation later today and will meet Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena at 4.30 pm. In the AAP legislature meeting, it was also decided that Atishi will continue as Chief Minister until the next Delhi elections. Gopal Rai, another senior AAP leader, confirmed this decision during the meeting.
This leadership change marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Delhi, with Atishi expected to carry forward AAP’s governance ahead of the upcoming elections.
