In view of Mizoram Assembly elections, BJP made a big announcement on Friday. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has been made Mizoram election in-charge and Nagaland Deputy Chief Ministers Yanthungo Patton and Anil Antony have been made election co-in-charge. Party General Secretary Arun Singh said that on the instructions of National President JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju has been appointed election in-charge of Mizoram. This appointment is effective with immediate effect.
Polls in Mizoram on November 7
Voting will be held in Mizoram in a single phase on November 7. The results of Mizoram assembly elections along with other five states will also be declared on December 3. With the announcement of the Election Commission, the Model Code of Conduct is currently in force in the state.
In the 2018 elections, Mizo National Front got 37.8 percent votes in the 40-seat Mizoram Assembly and the party won 26 seats. Congress got five seats and BJP got one seat. BJP has put its full strength in the elections being held in five states. Now by making Union Minister Kiren Rijiju in-charge of Mizoram elections, the party has indicated how important this election is fort it.
