Bihar Elections 2020: Nitish Kumar to be re-elected as the CM of Bihar

Nitish Kumar likely to be re-elected as the Chief Minister of Bihar after a massive win in the 2020 elections.

Nitish Kumar is likely to be re-elected as the Chief Minister of Bihar with a massive majority. The exit polls earlier had unanimously predicted a victory for Tejashwi Yadav led Mahagatbandhan against Nitish Kumar led NDA. However, RJD has managed to win large number of votes solely but couldn’t meet the mark to form the government in the state.

Nitish Kumar of JD(U) is the current Chief Minister of Bihar and also the CM candidate for the current elections. JD(U) holding position over 43 seats have won around 15.9% of the entire vote share in the 243-member assembly.

NDA managed to win 122 constituencies. BJP winning the race with 74 seats and JD(U) holding 43 seats.

Nitish Kumar made a statement clearing that 2020 elections will be the last one for him and  he has found victory in the 2020 elections massively.

Nitish Kumar was leading the opposition as the leader of JD(U).According to Wikipedia, as the Chief Minister, he appointed more than 100,000 school teachers, ensured that doctors worked in primary health centres, electrified many villages, paved roads, cut female illiteracy by half, turned around a lawless state by cracking down on criminals and doubled the income of the average Bihari. Kumar resigned in 2014 succeeded by Jitan Ram Manjhi. He returned in office in 2015 following political crisis and won the state elections in November 2015. He resigned again in July 2017 and re-entered office hours later post the formation of National Democratic Alliance(NDA) and became Chief Minister again the following day.

The Bihar elections were conducted in the backdrop of the COVID-19 scare, the following economic crisis and exodus of mass migrants- all the unprecedented conditions cumulatively creating the urgency of job-creation and financial assistance. These elections were primarily canvassed thus on the major factors of employment opportunities and development. Now time shall bear witness to the reign of Nitish Kumar’s party and their decisions, as the voters hold their faith high and await positive changes in the state.
