The counting for the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana is underway. The early and current trends show BJP is painting the states – MP, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh – saffron, while Congress has grasped its lead in Telangana, ahead of BRS and BJP.
Congress’ current sitting Chief Minister in Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot is leading in the Sardarpura seat with a margin of 12,536 votes, as per the Election Commission trends on Sunday. Gehlot is pitted against BJP’s Mahendra Singh Rathore.
Speaking of Madhya Pradesh, the current Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan from BJP is contesting from Budhni constituency for fourth consecutive time. He is leading against Congress’ Vikram Sharma by 50,996 votes. As of the last election results, the CM had won against Arun Yadav with a margin of 58,999 votes.
Chhattisgarh’s Congress CM Bhupesh Baghel is leading in his Patan constituency with a thin margin of 2,470 votes. He is up against BJP’s Vijay Baghel.
In Telangana, it seems that Congress has broken the decade long streak of K. Chandrashekar Rao, as the current CM of BRS party is trailing behind Congress’ Anumula Reddy by 1,961 votes. However, Rao has been contesting from one constituency, Gajwel, where he is leading with 7,028 votes. Overall results of Telangana show Congress reaching the half-way mark with leading seats at 65.
