Mizoram State Assembly results will not be declared on December 3. The Election Commission has changed the counting date. Now, the counting of votes in the state will take place on December 4. Earlier, counting of votes for Mizoram assembly elections was to take place along with other four states.
The Election Commission said the decision was taken following requests from various quarters to change the date of counting on the grounds that Sunday holds special significance for the people of the Christian-majority state of Mizoram.
According to the Election Commission, now the counting of votes for the state assembly elections will take place on December 4. In this, counting will start at 8 am in all the 13 counting centres and 40 counting halls of the state. First the postal ballots will be counted, then the votes recorded in EVMs will be counted.

After considering the proposals received from the people, the Election Commission has decided to revise the date of counting of votes for the general elections of Mizoram Assembly from December 3 (Sunday) to December 4 (Monday). Addressing a rally near Raj Bhavan, NGOCC president Lalhamchuana had said that the date of counting fell on Sunday, a holy day for Christians. He said that Mizoram is a Christian majority state.
There are a total of 40 assembly seats in Mizoram, voting for which was held on 7 November. Presently there is MNF government in Mizoram and Zoramthanga is the CM. In the 2018 assembly elections, MNF got 38 percent votes.
