
In a significant step toward achieving “Housing for All,” the Union Minister for Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, announced the allocation of 8.21 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) for Madhya Pradesh. This allocation will be effective from January 15, 2025, and aims to ensure time-bound construction of these houses.

- Scheme Objectives: PMAY-G, operational since April 1, 2016, targets constructing 4.95 crore houses by March 2029.

- Total Houses Targeted: 3.33 crore
- Houses Sanctioned: 3.23 crore
- Houses Completed: 2.69 crore
- ₹2.37 lakh crore disbursed to beneficiaries since inception.
- Madhya Pradesh Achievements:
- Target: 41.68 lakh houses
- Sanctioned: 41.51 lakh houses
- Completed: 36.80 lakh houses (88% completion rate)
- Remaining beneficiaries as per the Awaas+ 2018 list: 16.42 lakh households.
- Financial assistance of ₹3,726 crore released for FY 2024-25.
Technological and Strategic Advancements
- Awaas+ 2024 Mobile App: Launched in September 2024, the app uses AI-based facial recognition for accurate beneficiary identification.
- Convergence with Other Schemes: Beneficiaries also gain from schemes like MGNREGA, SBM-G, and Jal Jeevan Mission.
Women Empowerment
- 74% of houses under PMAY-G are under sole or joint ownership of women, promoting gender equality and empowerment.
