PM Modi will attend the Northeastern Council’s golden jubilee celebration and meeting in Shillong. In Agartala, he would also launch the ‘Grih Pravesh’ programme for nearly two lakh beneficiaries under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ or PMAY – urban and rural – programmes.

Following the recent elections in Gujarat, the BJP is shifting its focus to poll-bound Tripura and Meghalaya.

Both Tripura and Meghalaya will hold elections in the next two months, which are seen as crucial for the BJP.

The Prime Minister would preside over the golden jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council (NEC), a regional planning body for eight north-eastern states, including Sikkim, in Meghalaya’s capital Shillong.

All eight north-eastern states’ governors and chief ministers are expected to attend the NEC programme.

The Prime Minister would then travel to Tripura, where he would address a public gathering at the Swami Vivekananda ground in Agartala, inaugurate some projects, and lay foundation stones for others.

He will also meet with beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, as well as MLAs and ministers.

According to BJP sources, he will also hold a meeting of the BJP Core Committee for Tripura.
