Pakke Kessang Police arrests 2 drug peddlers, seizes heroin worth Rs 2 lakh

Arunachal Pradesh police have arrested two drug peddlers, including a woman, and seized over 27 grams of suspected heroin worth about Rs two lakh from them in Pakke Kessang district.

Itanagar, Feb 6 : Arunachal Pradesh police have arrested two drug peddlers, including a woman, and seized over 27 grams of suspected heroin worth about Rs two lakh from them in Pakke Kessang district, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Inspector P Payang on Monday raided the house of the alleged accused Jumyir Gangkak (22) at Niti Darlong village under Seijosa Police station, and seized 35 vials and one soap case containing suspected heroin, weighing 15.42 grams from the accused.
Police also recovered 164 empty vials, and suspected sale proceeds of Rs 3,790 from her possession, Pakke Kessang SP Tasi Darang said.

A police case under Sections 21(b)/27 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Seijosa Police Station, he said.

Based on information provided by the accused Jumyir Gangkak, police laid a trap and managed to arrest the main accused cum peddler Afzal Hussain, alias Raful (23) of Khonamukh village under Charduar Police Station in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Tuesday. Police recovered another 12.37 grams of suspected heroin from him.

With this, a total of 27.79 grams of heroin worth around Rs 2 lakh has been seized by police in this case, Darang said.

Pakke Kessang District Police in preparation for the upcoming general elections in 2024 seized a large quantity of illegal liquor too, the SP said, adding that the instant case is the first NDPS case registered in Pakke Kessang after the creation of the district.
