As the strategic military operation codenamed Operation Sindoor unfolds, major disruptions have been reported in air traffic across northern India. Airports in several sensitive regions have been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure amid heightened security alerts and potential threats along the border.
Operations at key northern airports—including Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar—have been suspended until further notice. The decision follows the rapidly evolving situation along India’s borders and internal security protocols.
In a travel advisory issued late on May 6, Air India confirmed the cancellation of all its flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot till 12 noon on May 7, citing “unforeseen disruption.” The airline noted that two international flights en route to Amritsar were diverted to Delhi.
