Her hometown has been visited by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul, and Priyanka, who are currently travelling.

Over the past few years, Rahul and Priyanka have made numerous trips to see their grandma. When Rahul Gandhi came under fire in 2020 for travelling much, the party said he was there on a personal trip to see “an unwell relative.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express his condolences. “Condolences to Sonia Gandhi Ji on the passing away of her mother, Mrs. Paola Maino. May her soul rest in peace. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the entire family,” the PM wrote.

Omar Abdullah, a former chief minister of J&K, also expressed his condolences. “I join my father & other family members in conveying our heartfelt condolences to Mrs Sonia Gandhi ji, to Rahul, Priyanka and the entire family on the sad demise of Mrs Gandhi’s mother. May the soul of Mrs Maino rest in eternal peace,” he wrote.
