Mortal remains of Karma Wangchu cremated with full state honours

The mortal remains of former Arunachal Pradesh Minister Karma Wangchu were cremated with full state honours at Temilo below Tawang Monastery on Monday afternoon.

The cremation was done amid chanting of mantras and rituals by the abbot of Tawang Monastery Shelding Tulku Thupten Tendar Rinpoche and other senior monks in the presence of a huge gathering of public, including local leaders and officers.

Chairman DoKAA (Department of Karmik and Adhyatmik Affairs), Jambey Wangdi, Commander of Tawang Brigade Brigadier NM Bendigeri, in-charge DC Tawang Rinchin Leta and SP Bomge Kamduk laid wreath, while the Arunachal Pradesh Police personnel have presented a guard of honour to the deceased leader.

Earlier, Tashi Dhondup, the youngest son of Karma Wangchu read out the condolence message of Ling Rinpoche and Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

The monks of Tawang Monastery and students of Choepheling Public School, Temilo offered prayers for the deceased leader.

Among others, former Chief Minister PK Thungon, legislators Jambey Tashi, Phurpa Tsering, Dongru Siongju and Tsering Tashi, and many other senior leaders and officers paid their last respects to the late Karma Wangchu.

The former Minister breathed his last in a Guwahati hospital on October 20 at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, six sons and many grandchildren.
