Swiggy, the food delivery company, published some of the craziest things that consumers looked for on its shopping app Instamart as part of its annual trends report on Friday. Swiggy highlighted in the seventh edition of its report, How India Swiggy’d 2022, that buyers searched for the strangest things that don’t even fit under groceries.

Swiggy Instamart users looked for petrol around 5,981 times. 8,810 persons inquired about the availability of underpants. Swiggy was also expected to supply sofas and beds on the same day by thousands of individuals.

The strangest search term, though, was “mommy,” which even surprised Swiggy. This word was not looked up a few times, but rather 7,275 times in 2022. Swiggy expressed their confusion with a series of question marks.

Meanwhile, Swiggy reported in its annual report that biryani dominated food orders this year, becoming the most-ordered meal for the seventh straight year. In 2022, 137 biryani orders were placed each minute.

In 2022, Indians ordered 3.6 crore packets of chips, according to the meal delivery app. During Diwali, a consumer from Bangalore also stood out by placing a single order totaling ₹75,378. Another city user used Swiggy’s Instamart to order groceries and necessities worth ₹16.6 lakh. Meanwhile, a Pune resident spent ₹71,229 on burgers and fries for his entire crew.
