
Ministry of Labour & Employment, on Saturday, announces an increase in variable dearness allowance by Rs 105, i.e., earlier it was Rs 105 and from now onwards, it will be Rs 210.
It’s utterly a sign of relief for millions of Central Government employees. Well, the ministry specifies that the hike will be applicable for the scheduled employment in the central sphere, and also, it will be applicable to the establishments under the authority of the Central government.
“The VDA is revised on the basis of the average consumer price index for industrial workers (CPI-IW) a price index compiled by labour bureau. The average CPI-IW for the months of July to December 2020 was used for undertaking the latest VDA revision”, as issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Santosh Gangwar, labour and employment minister says that the updated scheme will benefit about 1.50 crore workers who’re indulged into various scheduled employments.
