Satyendar Jain, Delhi Urban Development Minister, wrote to Piyush Goyal, Union Railway Minister, asking for detailed plans to provide strong houses to poor families living in 48000 slums along Delhi railway tracks.
The Supreme Court announced on August 31 that 48,000 slums in the railway safety zone will be demolished in three months. The court said, “No court in Delhi will stay demolition.”
Ajay Maken, Senior Congress leader, and 11 Delhi slum dwellers requested the top court not to remove any housing until an alternate form is provided.
