In the wake of escalating tensions with Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) will jointly address the media for the second time today at 6:00 PM IST. The high-stakes briefing will provide further updates on Operation Sindoor, India’s counter-offensive mission launched after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Earlier today, senior Indian officials including Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh spoke at the fourth official press briefing since Operation Sindoor began. The officials rejected Pakistan’s false claims of hitting Indian military installations and reiterated India’s measured and proportional responses to unprovoked Pakistani aggression.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi confirmed that Pakistan had deliberately targeted hospitals and school premises near Indian airbases in Srinagar, Awantipur, and Udhampur, calling it a “condemnable and unprofessional act.”
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated that Pakistan has been seen moving troops toward forward areas, indicating an offensive posture. She also dismissed misinformation by the Pakistani military, particularly the false claims regarding damage to India’s S-400 systems and air bases like Sirsa and Surat. “All hostile actions have been proportionately countered, and India continues to maintain a high level of operational readiness,” she added.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri further emphasized that India has acted responsibly, saying, “It is Pakistani actions that have constituted provocations and escalations. In response, India has defended and reacted in a responsible and measured fashion.” He also condemned Pakistan’s propaganda campaign, calling it a “tissue of lies.”
In the evening session, the MEA and MoD are expected to address strategic developments, respond to new claims made by Pakistan, and outline India’s diplomatic stance. The briefing will be streamed live on the official MEA YouTube channel.
