LaundryMate and BAF mark world water day 2025 with a call for conservation

LaundryMate and the Bangalore Apartments Federation launched a campaign on World Water Day to tackle Bengaluru’s water crisis, promoting sustainable water conservation efforts among residential associations.

As the city faces a severe water crisis, LaundryMate, a leading online laundry service, and the Bangalore Apartments Federation (BAF) have come together on World Water Day to emphasize the urgent need for sustainable water management.

Bengaluru, which requires 2,100 million litres of water per day (MLD), is currently facing a shortage of 650 MLD, roughly 30% of its daily demand. With groundwater levels declining and the Cauvery River running dry, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is struggling with annual losses amounting to ₹1,000 crore ($115 million).

The initiative by LaundryMate and BAF aims to mobilize residential welfare associations across the city to adopt water-saving practices. As part of the campaign, communities that have demonstrated exemplary efforts in conservation were recognized for their contributions to tackling Bengaluru’s water crisis.

The campaign serves as a wake-up call for citizens to rethink their water consumption habits. By promoting collective action and innovative conservation strategies, LaundryMate and BAF hope to pave the way for a more water-secure Bengaluru.
