#JusticeForKeralaGirls trends on Twitter after heinous rape of 6 year old girl comes into light

The netizens are using the hashtag to criticize CM Vijayan over his government’s failure to protect the women and girls of Kerala.

The hashtag #JusticeForKeralaGirls is the top trending hashtag across the country on Twitter with netizens demand justice for a young rape victim in the state of Kerala. 33,900 tweets have been put out with the hashtag as of 2:37 PM. According to news reports, a 6-year-old girl was raped for 3 years by a political leader belonging to the youth wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). In a heart-wrenching incident, the girl was subsequently killed allegedly by the youth leader.

The CPI(M) is the ruling party in the state of Kerala with its leader Pinaryi Vijayan heading the state government as the Chief Minister. The trend was triggered after the opposition BJP made the tweet, “Brutal rape and killings of innocent kids will haunt the Marxist govt. Time has come to bring the state govt. to it knees which has failed to protect girls in our state.”. The Kerala unit of BJP attached an image revealing the news of the rape and murder of the six-year-old girl.

The netizens are using the hashtag to criticize CM Vijayan over his government’s failure to protect the women and girls of Kerala. They are demanding justice for the girl and harsh punishment to be given to the accused CPI(M) leader.

The BJP’s mahila morcha also took out a protest march against the Kerala government over the heinous incident.
