As Ramadan 2025 nears its conclusion, Muslims across India and the world are preparing for Jumat-ul-Wida, also known as Alvida Jummah, the last Friday of the holy month. Observed with special congregational prayers, this sacred day holds deep spiritual significance, marking the farewell to Ramadan and ushering in the anticipation of Eid-ul-Fitr.
This year, Jumat-ul-Wida falls on March 28, 2025, the fourth and final Friday of Ramadan. Being a highly auspicious day in Islam, Friday prayers hold special importance, and on Jumat-ul-Wida, the faithful gather in mosques in larger numbers for extended prayers and religious sermons.
The prayers are typically offered at the usual Jumu’ah (Friday) prayer timings in the afternoon. Islamic clerics deliver sermons focused on the spiritual essence of Ramadan, the importance of charity (Zakat and Fitrah), and preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr.
With Ramadan observed across different countries, the Eid-ul-Fitr date in India will be determined based on moon sighting. If the Shawwal moon is sighted on the evening of March 28, then Eid will be celebrated on March 29; otherwise, it will fall on March 31, 2025.
Jumat-ul-Wida serves as a reminder for Muslims to seek blessings, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal, marking the end of a month devoted to fasting, prayer, and charity before welcoming the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
