The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) remanded Bachchu Yadav for 6 days by a special PMLA court in Ranchi on Friday. He is one of the close associates of Pankaj Mishra, the MLA representative of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Bachchu Yadav who had been taken into custody before by ED in connection with an illegal mining case in Jharkhand has now again been arrested by ED earlier on Thursday.
The federal agency has raided his residence and other suspected locations.
On July 8, the ED searched 19 locations in Sahibganj, Rajmahal, and Mirza Chauki associated with Pankaj Mishra and his close associates Dahu Yadav and Bachchu Yadav. The raids were conducted under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The ED arrested Pankaj Mishra, the MLA representative of Soren in his Assembly constituency Berhait, on July 19.
Dahoo Yadav, an associate, had joined the investigation prior to Pankaj Mishra’s arrest. Following that, he went incommunicado and did not appear despite several ED notices.
In the same case, the federal agency is questioning Jharkhand Chief Minister Abhishek Prasad’s press advisor. On Friday, he was summoned to the investigation for the third time in a row.
