Indian Navy welcomes INS Vagsheer in Mumbai today

Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd launched this high-tech state of the art submarine in Mumbai today.

Today the Indian Navy celebrates a new addition to its fleet of submarines the INS Vagsheer, last of P75 Scorpene-level submarine.

Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd launched this high-tech state of the art submarine in Mumbai today. Interestingly the list of already commissioned submarines are INS Khanderi, INS Karanj, INS Vela, INS Kalvari and sea pilot is underway for Vagir.

 

Its quite fascinating to know that the INS Vagsheer is a massive 221 feet in length and stands at a height of 40 feet powered by SE84 diesel engines and 360 battery cells for a powerful and discreet Permanently Magnetised Propulsion Motor and not to forget it has four MTU 12V 396 SE84 diesel engines. INS Vagsheer boasts of top speed at 20 knots when under water and when surfaced it can go upto a speed of 11 knots.

 

Its primary functionality is to attack unfreindly naval vessels and is considered to be one of the latest and most advanced defense submarine systems. It is fully loaded with weapons, highly aware sensors and defense systems that can thwart any threat under water or above the sea surface.

 

INS Vagsheer has a fantatstic SONAR and sensor armor allowing it to perform at its technological best. It will be put to sea trials after its launch today and will soon join the Indian Naval fleet by 2024 march.
