On Friday, 14 August the Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) appointed GP Garg as its executive director.
Since his joining in January 1994, Garg has handled several assignments the latest being the Chief General Manager of SEBI. He has also headed departments like treasury and accounts, facilities management, establishment, the office of investor assistance and education, and central public information office. Many initiatives of SEBI like financial literacy and investor education in the country, have seen his close involvement.
He is also said to play a key role in the establishment of the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) including setting up the new state of the art campus at Patalganga.
