Gautam Gambhir lauds Delhi Police, NSG

New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) Member of Parliament from East Delhi and former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Friday heaped praise on Delhi Police and National Security Guard (NSG) for successfully defusing the improvised explosive device (IED just ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.

In a tweet, cricketer-turned-politician said, “Great job done by the Delhi Police and NSG today in Ghazipur, East Delhi. A major attack averted ahead of Republic Day, We live coz they risk everything.”

Earlier in the day, IED which was stuffed in a bag was found in East Delhi’s Ghazipur Flower Market. It was later defused by the National Security Guard (NSG).

A case has been registered regarding this and investigation is being carried out by Delhi police special Cell, a senior police official said.

IED was defused and samples have been collected from the site for further analysis in the lab.

The area police received information in the morning about a suspicious bag lying inside the market, after that they reached there and found some suspected material in the bag. Then they called in Bomb Disposal Squad, Special Cell and NSG at the spot.

A controlled blast was carried out by the investigative agency to defuse the IED after cordoning off the market area.

The probe is being done to find out the culprit who brought the bag inside the market following which CCTV is being scanned.
