Elon Musk confirms India visit, replies to PM Modi’s tech collaboration pitch

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has confirmed plans to visit India later this year, following a conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Musk’s statement came as a reply to PM Modi’s tweet highlighting their discussion on strengthening ties in technology and innovation.

“It was an honor to speak with PM Modi. I am looking forward to visiting India later this year!” Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter) on April 19, reacting to Modi’s tweet from the previous day.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had tweeted, “Spoke to @elonmusk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation.”

This renewed dialogue comes at a significant time, with US Vice President JD Vance scheduled to visit India from April 21 to 24. The conversation also aligns with ongoing negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement between India and the United States—an effort that began after Modi’s meeting with then-US President Donald Trump in February.

During his earlier visit to Washington DC, Modi met Elon Musk along with his family and senior US officials. With Musk now confirming a visit to India, speculation grows over possible announcements around Tesla’s India entry, space tech collaborations, or broader tech investments.
