
An earthquake of 4.0 magnitude on the Richter Scale struck Bihar’s Siwan on Monday morning at around 8:02 am. The tremors were felt across the western region of Bihar, sending residents into a state of alert. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter was located in Siwan at a depth of 10 kilometers.
This earthquake comes just hours after a similar 4.0 magnitude quake hit the Delhi-NCR region at 5:36 am. The tremors were felt strongly in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, with many residents rushing outside from high-rise buildings. The epicenter of the Delhi quake was near the Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi.
The NCS reported that the Delhi-NCR earthquake occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers, shaking buildings and prompting many people to evacuate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the situation, urging the public to stay calm and follow safety precautions. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely for any aftershocks.
Delhi Police also issued an emergency alert on social media, urging residents to dial #112 for any emergency assistance, while reassuring the public that the situation was being closely watched.
