In a meeting between the government of India’s Interlocutor for Naga peace talks, R.N. Ravi and Working Committee of seven Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) on September 10 at Police Complex, Chümoukedima, published by Nagaland Post, media cell of WC wrote that “the defining hour is approaching for announcing honourable and acceptable solution” adding that the government of India and WC felt that the issue must be settled and the waiting period is over, calling for “the unity of Nagas at this time is critical.”
WC said at the September 10 meeting, the Interlocutor R.N. Ravi, affirmed that the government of India is “taking forward the decision of the Naga groups on October 31, 2019.” WC said the government of India has “acknowledged the fact that Naga tribes and civil societies had spelt out their positions over the Indo-Naga political issue.” Therefore, WC said, in reciprocation, the government of India “is determined to fulfil the political aspiration of the Naga people.”
The issue had been discussed extensively in October last year between Ravi and the Naga groups and the new developments come amid heightened speculations that the Government of India will resolve the Naga issue within September this year.
The statement also said that the official position of the government of India was that “the Naga issue must be settled and the waiting period is over” and that it was “preparing necessary steps.”
