Cyrus Mistry death: Police releases details regarding businessman Cyrus Mistry’s co-passenger

The automobile that slammed on a road divider on Sunday, killing former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry and another passenger, was being driven by a well-known gynaecologist in Mumbai, according to authorities.

Cyrus Mistry, a former chairman of Tata Sons, perished in a deadly vehicle accident on Sunday close to Mumbai. Along with Jahangir Pandole, who was also seated in the rear seat of the Mercedes automobile, the 54-year-old passed away instantly. When the disaster occurred, Mistry and three other people were travelling back from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.

According to the most recent information from the Palghar Police, a renowned gynaecologist from Mumbai was behind the wheel when the car was involved in an accident. A police source informed news agency PTI that preliminary evidence indicates the car was fast and attempted to pass another vehicle from the wrong side (from the left).

The official said that the gynaecologist Anahita Pandole (55), her husband Darius Pandole (60), and Mistry (54) perished in the collision, which occurred at around 3 p.m., roughly 120 miles from Mumbai. Mistry and Jahangir Pandole, Darius’s brother, also perished.

“The accident occurred on the bridge over the Surya river, killing Mistry and another person on the spot while two others have been shifted to Gujarat for further treatment,” said Palghar district superintendent of police, Balasaheb Patil.

News agency PTI quoted an eye witness who said, “A woman was driving the car and tried to overtake another vehicle from left side, but lost control and crashed into the road divider”. We rushed to the accident scene, but we didn’t touch the vehicle or the injured people, the eyewitness, who works in a roadside garage, told a Marathi TV channel. “In 10 minutes, help came and two injured persons were pulled out from the car and shifted by an ambulance to hospital. The other two were dead,” he said.

At a public hospital in Kasa, there are stilltraces of Mistry’s life. Police have made an Accidental Death Report (ADR).

Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, announced on Sunday that he had instructed the state police to undertake a thorough investigation into the accident that claimed the life of the former chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry.

Through his business, Cyrus Investments Pvt. Ltd., Cyrus Mistry acquired an 18.4% stake in Tata Sons. Mistry was one of the wealthiest persons in India, with a net worth of close to $29 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, at the time of his passing. In the National Integration Council, he participated.
