A Day of state mourning will be observed on Monday in Kerala “as a mark of respect” for those who lost their lives due to the boat mishap in Malappuram in Kerala.

Thiruvananthapuram, May 8: A Day of state mourning will be observed on Monday in Kerala “as a mark of respect” for those who lost their lives due to the boat mishap in Malappuram in Kerala on Sunday evening.

Condoling the deaths, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has tweeted that “Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the Tanur boat accident in Malappuram.”

“Have directed the District administration to effectively coordinate rescue operations, which are being overseen by Cabinet Ministers. Heartfelt condolences to the grieving families & friends.”

Opposition leader VD Satheesan also condoled the demise of people in boat tragedy and requested UDF workers to help in rescue operations.
