BMC unveils Rs 74,427 crore budget for FY 2025-26, marks 14.19% hike

Mumbai’s Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a budget estimate of ₹74,427 crore for the financial year 2025-26, reflecting a 14.19% increase over the revised budget of ₹65,180 crore for FY 2024-25. The civic body anticipates total revenue earnings of ₹40,693 crore by March 31, 2025, with ₹28,308 crore already collected by December 2024.

BMC tabled its budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, with a total outlay of ₹74,366 crore, including ₹43,162 crore allocated for capital expenditure, which is designated for development works. The corporation also revealed plans to erect the ‘Mumbai Eye,’ modeled after the iconic ‘London Eye,’ at a suitable location under the PPP model to boost tourism and infrastructure.

BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said, “The Budget estimates of BMC for the FY 2025-26 is proposed at ₹74,427.41 crore, which exceeds the budget estimates of 2024-25 that is ₹65,180.79 crore by 14.19%.”
