Assam and Mizoram Chief Secretaries summoned by Union Home Secretary, meeting tomorrow

A three day state mourning had been declared by the Assam Government, effective Tuesday, to condole the deaths of the 6 police officials in the clash with Mizoram. 

The Union Home Secretary would be holding a meeting with the Chief Secretaries of Assam and Mizoram and the senior officers of the two states after the violent interstate border clashes between the two states police forces. The meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday at the North block.

On Monday, a border clash broke out between Assam and Mizoram which had claimed the lives of six policemen and injured over 60 people.

It has been alleged by the Assam Police that miscreants from Mizoram had indulged in stone pelting and attacking the officials of the Assam Government who were stationed at Lailapur for the protection of Assam’s land from encroachment.
