In an unfortunate event, on Wednesday a massive fire engulfed the chemical factory Porus Private Limited in Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh state. On the spot, 6 employees were burnt to death and 12 others sustained critical 3rd-degree burns.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences via Twitter. “Pained by the loss of lives due to a mishap at chemical unit in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly,” tweeted the PM’s office.

This mishap happened when a container in the factory that was to deliver polymer raw product, unfortunately, started leaking, and the flames hit the factory through a manhole passage, reported the local police.
As per DSP of Nujiveedu area, Srinivasulu said, ” The container which was to deliver polymer raw product leaked and the flames seeped through the manhole passage in the factory. 12 people on the spot were burnt and 1 was brought dead to the hospital. 12 people sustained critical 3rd-degree burns.”
Eluru area’s SP, Rahul Dev Sharma further added, “During the mishap, 18 employees were at work. Nujiveedu doesn’t have great medical facilities so the victims were moved to Vijaywada city, which took nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach. As soon as the news reached, the disaster management team of firefighters and police reached the spot. The flames took over 2 floors. And of the 6 people dead, 4 were from Bihar state.”
