
In the aftermath of the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha stated that the aircraft had shown no prior technical issues before takeoff. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner had successfully completed its earlier legs from Paris to Delhi and Delhi to Ahmedabad without any reported anomalies.
The Government of India held its first official press conference on the tragedy, led by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. Before addressing the media, officials observed a minute of silence in memory of the crash victims.
The fatal incident occurred on Thursday, June 12, when Air India flight AI-171, en route to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The aircraft went down in a devastating impact with a resident doctors’ hostel building, resulting in the deaths of 241 out of the 242 passengers and crew on board. Only one survivor has been confirmed.
