After US President Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirms India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement

In a significant diplomatic development, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has confirmed that India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire, following intensive engagement by American officials over the past 48 hours.

Rubio stated, “Over the past 48 hours, Vice President Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik.”

He added, “I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site.”

Rubio also praised both leaders for their restraint: “We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”

This announcement comes shortly after US President Donald Trump claimed that a full ceasefire agreement had been reached between the two countries, sparking global attention and a wait for official confirmation from New Delhi and Islamabad.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is expected to address these developments during a scheduled press briefing at 6 PM IST, which has now become crucial amid growing anticipation.
